Beltane Atlantis
It’s that time of the year again when a Wizard puts on their Wizard Hat and hikes up the hill to make a ceremonial fire marking the transition from Winter to Summer.
The Beltane.
This time, I had a very strong feeling that I need to celebrate it in Atlantis, one of the sacred spots in the magical island of Ibiza. So I booked my flights slightly earlier than I originally planned, packed my wizard kit and embarked on another adventure into the underworld.
Beltane has been a big part of my life and I wrote about it before. To give you just the minimum context before moving on, all you need to know that it’s a Celtic tradition, and it involves the story of the May Queen and the Green Man visiting the underworld, and there’s fire involved.
In my wizarding world it also became a card burn.
As usual with these kind of rituals I reflected what is needed, and made a card for it with a checklist.
It was quite straightforward:
- a candle
- an offering
- red body paint
- cards to burn
- Santa Maria
I collected most of the items in the few hours I’ve had before the ritual and embarked on the long (for Ibiza standard) drive into the parking lot from which my hike could begin.
It’s a bit of a journey, 5.2 km in total with 707m cliff walking elevation to move through. You need to earn your ceremony. I ascended to the beautiful spot overlooking Es Vedras, one of the ancient power places, and then descended all the way down to Atlantis.

All this time with music in the background, searching for that perfect playlist that will harmonise with the ritual ahead.
Eventually I was there.
The last (and first ever) time I visited Atlantis was on my last day before departing from Ibiza in October 2025. It felt like the perfect conclusion of that powerful time when I felt the island making love to me (and me loving it). Back then I arrived after sunset and felt the powerful presence of the rock formations taking space in the night. I wasn’t too comfortable with that energy, but something was calling me to come back.
This time it was my opening hike. The perfect place to say hi to the local spirits and open up the summer portal.
So I’m there, ready to light my fire at sunset.
I roll out my magic blanket (a precious gift from my pirate brother Christof) and set up my base camp. I place four objects representing the core elements on the alter. I give my initial offering. Then move around the sacred circle built from rocks to open the space.
It ends up being a grief celebration. Surprise, surprise (not). I’ve been all about connecting with grief lately (as explored in my last moonly review). Grief for all these futures that could have been and yet are not to be. So powerful. As I circle around the energy keeps on moving. My frequency shifts. It’s palpable.
So I treat myself to a card session. It’s a special day, so I pull out my special deck – Akinado Nada Nissa. I pull three cards. They slap, of course. This deck is always so on point.
I am thankful and I keep on circling. The sunset is close. The music is finally in tune with the moment.
I check with my Beltane checklist and realise that I don’t have red body paint. Conveniently I brought some strawberries without thinking about it. So now I’m all red covered in strawberry juice. It smells nice.
The ritual continues. Sunset is close. I craft the card I shall burn. It turns out to be all about celebration, gratitude and setting intention (I expected it to be more about letting go).
When it’s done I feel the need to dance in celebration. Conveniently the perfect song starts to play. I dance, dance, dance with ecstasy. The sun sets. It’s time for the fire.
Fun thing is – I don’t need it to be epic. All that I need is a flame. I have a special candle that I unknowingly kept for that very moment. Fire is lit. It’s time to burn the card.

I watch it turn to ash, with ashes perfectly falling into a tiny container despite the wind. Leave No Trace, baby. Or better – leave a positive trace. I need another offering. I browse through my wizard pouch and a beautiful wooden gratitude token shines at me. It’s time to give thanks. Thank you, oh so much for all the incredible life I am privileged to live.
What’s next? I feel the call to make another card reading. The first one of the Summer! Let’s grab three cards – one from Akinado, one from Wild Cards and one from Tarot Major Arcana. My favourite combo for special days.
I get a very tasty combo: Primal Intelligence, Prompt Human Intelligence and La Lune.
It’s funny: I’m all about tasting my own medicine and Prompt Human Intelligence is the card I have not yet played myself (not in it’s current iteration). What an opportunity to craft a card. I tune into what it wants to be. Wait… Really?
Yup. That’s it. I hop onto crafting. It’s a card journey in itself. Many words, all skilfully wrapped around each other, distilling the energy of the moment and myself into a prompt that can be consensually executable by another human I shall choose to offer the opportunity to. It’s one of these cards that push me to face my fears in a delightful way. I can’t wait to play it and experience what comes out of it. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything. Or something in between 😅.
The ritual is done. I close the space with a prayer.
And just like that I turn my head to the left to notice the Moon rising right from behind the rock. Everything comes in perfect time. Great reminder to self. Thank you, Universe.

But there’s one more thing to do – I am ready to burn another card. A precious card created by a special human, which I then added on top. The card represents Ibiza. It feels like it’s a kind of access card. It was my desire to come back and now I’m here. Thank you, Card, for being played. I celebrate you and release you into the Void.
I collect my belongings and get ready for hiking up the cliff in the dark. No need for headtorch, I can see in the dark, and it’s not that dark anyway. The trail plays some tricks on me but eventually I make it back to the parking lot.
I’m full of light and love. Full of energy and vibe. So excited for another season, living the Pirate Code, and experiencing what does this delightful universe has to offer.
It’s gonna be tasty, I’m sure. May it be for you as well! Love you!
